Continuing Education Information

The AAPM 38th Annual Meeting is scheduled for March 17-20.  Below please find important information about the meeting educational programming.

Who Should Attend?

Clinicians from all specialties and general medical practice treating patients in pain are invited to join leading experts in pain medicine at AAPM 2022. The program has been designed by a multidisciplinary, multimodal committee of experts at the forefront of pain medicine practice for a primary audience of physicians whose scope of practice is targeted at the multidisciplinary practice of pain medicine and a secondary audience of nonphysician healthcare clinicians including nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, psychologists, and pharmacists who are part of the multidisciplinary pain management team.

Objectives and Desired Outcomes

After attending the meeting, participants should be better able to

  • describe recent advancements in research, clinical best practices, patient management, practice management, and the diagnosis and treatment of patients in pain
  • assess, treat, and improve outcomes for patients suffering from multiple types of pain through the use of evidence-based, integrative/multidisciplinary pain management strategies and patient-centered treatment plans
  • improve patient safety and decrease the rate of opioid- and pain analgesic–related adverse events.

Session-specific learning objectives can be viewed following the description for each session.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

On December 10, 2020, ACCME announced new Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. These newly evolved standards, formerly known as Standards for Commercial Support, “serve the needs of healthcare professionals, patients, and the public in changing healthcare environment”.

It is the policy of AAPM to plan and implement educational activities in accordance with ACCME to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor. As an ACCME-accredited provider, AAPM may receive support from ineligible companies (defined by ACCME as any entity whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients) but does not receive guidance, either nuanced or direct, on the content of the activity or on who should deliver the content. All program faculty and planners are required to disclose all financial relationships they may have or have had within the past 24 months with ineligible companies. Any real or apparent conflicts of interest must be resolved prior to the presentation. Faculty are expected to disclose this information to the audience both verbally and in print (PPTs) at the beginning of each presentation. A full list of real-time Planning Committee and faculty disclosures shall be posted to the AAPM meeting website
